Practice Statement

Truman Brewey, Spitalfields, London

We are a small part of a creative and collaborative team of architects + urbanists, specialists + engineers, stakeholders + strategists, tasked with the gradual transformation of the Truman Estate through the hands of many. The estate’s backbone, Brick Lane, tells a story of change, and through a philosophy of place evolution we are looking to open up previously hidden and locked spaces for public passage, whilst contributing to the rich and invigorating urban-scape of this east London gem, with a mix of workspaces, mixed-tenure homes, events and exhibition spaces, markets, cafes, shops, restaurants and art galleries, a data centre, and plenty of new, green, accessible public spaces.

We have deployed a range of hand crafted media and methods to compliment our digital modelling, to explore and interpret the rich narratives of the site and its history. From 1:500 through to 1:20 models and maquettes, in paper, card, veneers and plaster-casts. Each step of the decision making journey, has been informed by the physical embodiment of our thinking. When collected and recorded, these explorative fragments offer a deep insight into our collective thought processes. No one piece has greater value than the next. All essential contributions. | We have deployed a range of hand crafted media and methods to compliment our digital modelling, to explore and interpret the rich narratives of the site and its history.
